RightToEducation.in is a comprehensive platform for information and updates on the Right to Education (RTE) Act

The Opportunity

The Right to Education Act (RTE) is a landmark policy in India’s education history. Since it was introduced in 2010, there have been many challenges with the implementation of this Act, leading to misconceptions and debates about its efficacy. This calls for an open and comprehensive platform that provides information and updates on the RTE to dispel any myths regarding the Act and that allows stakeholders to interact, discuss, create and share.

The Model

Centre for Civil Society (CCS) is a public policy think tank that advocates for choice, competition and community-based policy reform through research, advocacy and outreach. The organization’s web portal, www.RightToEducation.in, is an open platform that aggregates information related to the Right to Education Act (RTE). Central Square Foundation supported this interactive platform by providing insights and recommendations on the portal’s content, such as government resources, judgements, case studies, bills and reports.

Potential for Systemic Impact

The portal builds awareness around the RTE among key stakeholders, promotes an exchange of best practices related to on-the-ground implementation of the Act, and allows stakeholders to seek redressal of grievances when required. The goal moving forward is that it will play an important role in identifying evidence and generating ideas for strengthening the RTE.
