Senior Programme Manager – EdTech, Central Square Foundation

One of India’s biggest challenges is providing quality education to its 240 million children. The scale and complexity of education in India demands that the brightest talent engage in finding solutions.

At Central Square Foundation (CSF), we seek to achieve transformational standards of educational excellence for children from disadvantaged communities in India. We support exceptional social entrepreneurs with powerful ideas, provide a platform for the sharing of innovation, and find policy solutions to enable sustained change.

CSF’s team members combine a deep commitment to education with operational excellence. We are a young organisation with a dynamic entrepreneurial environment dedicated to achieving landmark reform in the Indian education system.

Position Summary

One of the key areas of CSF’s work is Education Technology. Under this thematic area, we focus on how technology can be leveraged to improve the teaching-learning experience within classrooms – through both student-directed and teacher-directed interventions.
We have an active portfolio of 5 organisations that are all testing different hypothesis.

In addition to these grants, we also work closely with governments to create an impact at scale. We have been working closely with the MHRD to provide technical assistance and support to help conceptualise and build a National Teacher Platform. We also work with a number of state governments as a strategic knowledge & thought partner to help them build a vision and operational plan for using technology in schools. We’re supporting Andhra Pradesh’s flagship Digital Classrooms Initiative, by designing their implementation models, capacity building workshops, helping with the evaluation & selection of digital content solutions etc..We’re also helping the Government of Chhattisgarh rethink how they should spend their ICT@Schools budget for 1246 schools.

In order to create a public good for the ecosystem, we’re also working on a project to build a body of evidence on the effectiveness of EdTech products in our context. Building this causal evidence will help technology companies establish trust in the market and scale their business. Evidence will also encourage governments and affordable private school leaders to invest more in technology solutions and integrate technology in schools in a pedagogically sound way.

The Senior Programme Manager, EdTech (Education Technology) will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with nonprofits, policy-makers, supporting our network of grantee organisations, conducting research on relevant issues, and building and managing relationships with governments, for furthering the cause of quality education for every child in India. The role will require working directly with CSF’s Associate Director in EdTech.
